We close the gap between communities & care.

โ€” WHAT WE DO โ€”

Citizens Health Initiative Nigeria works across four strategic focus areas to address the full spectrum of barriers that keep Nigerians from accessing the quality healthcare they deserve, from the grassroots to the policy table.

Community Capacity Strengthening by training navigators, empowering local groups and building lasting health leadership from within communities.

๐Ÿ“ข

๐Ÿ˜๏ธ

Health Promotion & Prevention through outreach programs, health literacy campaigns and preventive care services delivered where people live.

Health Equity & Advocacy through policy research, government engagement and community voice initiatives driving systemic reform.

Evidence to Policy through documenting field evidence, turning community experience into data to drive health policy reform.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ

๐Ÿ”ฌ

"We do not choose between community action and systems change. We do both. Because one without the other does not create lasting health equity."

Our approach is deliberate, evidence-driven and community-led. We do not parachute in with solutions. We listen, build relationships, generate evidence and act, at both the community level and the systems level simultaneously.

Listen & Map

We work in communities, listening to their health challenges, mapping the gaps in services and understanding the social, economic and geographic barriers people face in accessing healthcare.

๐Ÿ‘‚

Build & Train

We invest in people, training community health navigators, strengthening local health groups and building the internal capacity communities need to lead their own health solutions.

Deliver & Advocate

We act on two fronts simultaneously, delivering direct programs in communities while taking the evidence and community voices to the policy table to push for structural change.

Measure & Improve

We track what works and what does not. Our operational research and M&E framework ensures every program improves over time and contributes to Nigeria's public health knowledge base.
